Safeguarding
At Doodlebugs Arts & Crafts, the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people and adults attending our sessions is our highest priority.
We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment for everyone taking part in our activities.
All staff and volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities and maintain appropriate DBS checks and safeguarding awareness where required.

If you have any safeguarding concerns during a session, please speak to one of the DSLs immediately.
Safeguarding Procedures
All staff, volunteers, visitors and contractors are expected to:
- Treat all participants with dignity and respect
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times
- Follow our mobile phone, photography and GDPR procedures
All safeguarding concerns are recorded and managed appropriately in line with current UK safeguarding guidance and our safeguarding procedures.
Mobile Phones & Photography
To help protect children and vulnerable adults:
- Personal mobile phones should not be used during activities involving children
- Photographs or videos must not be taken on personal devices
- Images are only used where appropriate written consent has been given
- Photography consent forms are completed before images are used online or in marketing materials
GDPR & Confidentiality
We are committed to protecting personal information and handling it responsibly.
Any personal data collected is:
- Stored securely
- Only used for legitimate organisational purposes
- Not shared unnecessarily and only disclosed without consent where there is a lawful or safeguarding reason to do so
- Managed in line with UK GDPR requirements
Reporting a Concern
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or adult attending our activities:
- Speak to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately.
- If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
- For concerns about a child or young person, contact Hertfordshire Children’s Services on 0300 123 4043.
- For concerns about an adult at risk, contact Hertfordshire Adult Social Care on 0300 123 4042.
You can also report safeguarding concerns directly through the relevant Hertfordshire safeguarding service.
