Doodlebugs After School Club: creative fun for children
Welcome to the Doodlebugs Arts & Crafts After School Club in London Colney! We offer a unique and nurturing environment where children can unwind after school, engage in exciting creative activities and build friendships. Engaging activities and creative exploration
At our After School Club, children can dive into a world of creativity with arts and crafts. We offer a variety of games and opportunities to build new friendships in a relaxed atmosphere. We understand children have had a busy day at school, so our focus is on allowing them to relax, unwind and enjoy themselves in a calm, welcoming, screen-free environment.
Our club has a maximum of 16 children, allowing for individual attention and a calm atmosphere. We provide healthy snacks for those joining us from local school pickups, encouraging children to try new things and learn about healthy eating.
Children can then choose an optional art or craft activity, or simply enjoy free play with options like kinetic sand, clay and various games. There's no pressure to take part in a particular activity — children can choose what feels right for them.
A special and supportive environment
What makes our After School Club special is our commitment to creating a small, supportive group. With a maximum of 16 children per session, we foster an environment where older children can naturally help and encourage younger ones, building a strong sense of community.
We introduce new arts and crafts techniques, allowing children to develop their skills and explore their creativity. For moments when children need some quiet time, we have a calming corner with a sensory tent, along with calming activities such as kinetic sand and playdough.
The atmosphere is consistently calm and relaxed, with soothing music playing to help children unwind, settle after their school day and feel at ease.
Age groups and enrolment options
Our After School Club is designed for children aged 4 to 11 years. We also offer a separate Children's Art Programme for ages 7 to 16, with more information available on its dedicated page.
There are two ways to join our After School Club:
Walking Bus – 3pm to 6pm | £12
Our walking bus collects children from local schools from 3pm and brings them safely to Doodlebugs. Along the way, we encourage children to enjoy some exercise, connect with nature and look out for one another.
Once they arrive, children receive a healthy snack and water. They can take part in arts and crafts, with all materials included, and bring their creations home. There is also plenty of time for free play, sensory activities, Lego, our reading corner and calming corner, as well as support with homework or school projects.
Drop-Off – 4pm to 6pm | £8
The drop-off option is available from 4pm to 6pm, allowing children from different schools and local areas to join us for arts, crafts and creative play.
Children can choose from creative activities, free play and our range of sensory and calming resources, enjoying a relaxed and welcoming end to their school day.
The two options are priced differently because the Walking Bus session runs for 3 hours, while the Drop-Off session runs for 2 hours.
